Philosophy, Inspiration, and Life

Paper philosophy...
Paper is impermanent with a short shelf life. And in that, lies its beauty.

Inspirations...
Everything art history. The unexpected. Wandering or blitzing through museums. Things dark and even macabre. The works of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Mary Cassatt, and Edward Gorey. Simplicity and order.

Approach to art...
My art is eclectic, schizophrenic, and precise with a commitment to tailoring and function.

Current explorations...
Obsessed with wooden spoon carving.

Frustrations...
Not having enough time. Being torn in multiple directions. Wanting to live simply.

Paper hoarding...
I’ve got thousands of sheets from around the world. If the old saying is true, “whoever dies with the most amount of a paper (or fabric or yarn) wins...” well, I win then.

A day in the life...
It’s never typical. I take care of business first (shipping, packing, orders, emails, listing) and then party with my ideas and materials.

When not creating...
Cooking, reading, knitting, gardening, canning, quality of life stuff.

Favorite tool..
Tape gun! And a really good pair of scissors.

Next travel stop...
A building in Munich with horns that sound off in the rain. Train tracks in Ukraine that slice through an overgrown tunnel.
